Connected Kids

Facebook, twitter, blogging, texting.  All of these electronic means of communication are permeating our day to day lives more and more.  How old do you think a child should before they begin to use these things?  At what age would you allow a facebook account?  When will you get your child their first cell phone?  Do they already have it?  What restrictions will be in place to make sure that they use it responsibly?

This is SUCH a good question I'd be interested to hear what other parents have to say... I for one know how easy it is to flip on the TV when I need a moment to regroup.
I see my friends' tweens on facebook and think, "I wouldn't let my kid that young on facebook!" But then I think, "never say never..." lol

Same here CK!! I don't know the answer to this question. I am not a fan of facebook for young kids because it can lead to all types of peer pressure to be cool or act a certain way. However, there are some adults on facebook that should be ashamed of the stuff they write on their wall and the pics they post. So I guess it depends on the person.

I don't know? Who knows what social media will be around when Pookah gets older? I have a friend who constantly monitors any and everything her girls tweet, facebook, text and call. It's like a full time job!
