It was THAT perfect . . .

He picked you up ON TIME and brought you pink roses.  He held open the door, pushed in your chair as you sat and let you order first . . .

Was it that perfect?  Did you laugh for the entire date?  Or did you wonder why your sister set you up with this loser?  Did you make an instant "love connection" or did it take a couple tries to get it right?

On your first date with your significant other, what did you do and what was it like?  (photo credit)

None of those. That pic is freakishly nostalgic though. LOL! Kidding. Hmmm. We got late night Wendy's and talked for 4 hours. It does not get any more romantic than that.
C-Dub and I met on Match.com. After talking on the phone a few times, we decided to meet. We met at Gladys Chicken and Waffles. He was 45 mintues late. And when he showed up, I kept thinking, does this man have on makeup?(a legitimate question in Atlanta). He was just too damn pretty. I kept saying, this is not going to work. I don't do pretty men. But dinner went well, and we talked for hours afterwards. I decided I liked him. The rest is history.

On our first real date (we met on facebook, then did a public meet with friends before the first date.) He brought me orchids, and took me to the fanciest restaurant he could afford at the time. Applebees. He ordered a water with lemon, and promptly squirted lemon juice in my eye. Past my glasses somehow. Date over, lol, but I forgave him, and a year later we were married!

We met at a speed-dating event so I don't think our first 7 minute "date" counts LOL. We met up at Dave and Buster's to play pool on our first real date many months later. We had fun, smack-talked and I think I beat him LOL. I had a good time. I don't know if it was the "best date ever" but good enough to make me want to see him again. We made another date and had great phone conversations in-between. We got engaged 1.5 years later.

He took me to the beach as the sun was going down. We walked and talked and have a good time in general. We sat on a bench and he gave me the bestest back massage EVER! That was one of the best dates I've been on because it wasn't cliche. It was really nice. We lost touch over the next few years( yeah I know, years are long) and have been back dating again since May 2009. Still to this day, no date I have been on has topped my 1st date with my honey.

Michael & I met through mutual friends. He was so quiet, though I think it took him a month to have a comfortable conversation with me! LOL! I gave him my number the night we met and he actually said, "Is this your real number??" Then on our first actual date we went out to play pool and I wanted to invite other friends to join us b/c once we got there he didn't talk. He was so, so shy!! It took me a while to actual realize he was my soulmate - we're just two very different people - I thought you had to marry someone just like you to make it...but now I think that would just be boring! Ha ha!

I would like to think our first date was actually over the phone. A mutual friend asked if it was okay to give him my phone number. I only knew of him but thought what do I have to lose. The night before I headed home after my freshman year in college we talked all night long. Long story short, I ended up coming back to school early because he didn't go home that summer and we really hit it off. We were married 7 years after that first conversation. We had a long break up in the middle and he came back with a child, but what is meant to be is meant to be..He's my soulmate, we just celebrated 5 years of marriage on Sept. 2nd!!

He came to my house but I was late!!!! I wasn't home from a meeting yet... quite embarrassing for me. When I finally got home and threw on a fresh layer of make-up, I jumped in the car with him, his best friend and his date (double date) and they asked me, "On a scale from 1-10 how spontaneous are you?"
"hrm... 7 I suppose."
They responded: Ok, that means we have to find 7 restaurants that no one in the car has ever been to and we go to the 7th one.
It was totally fun! I had a blast. We ended up a couple cities away at some place called "Jim's Family Restaurant." We picked meals for our respective dates. John chose a Greek eggplant dish for me that turned out to be delicious.
To this day, "Jim's Family Restaurant" has special significance to us and we go whenever we get the chance. (You may have never heard of it but we have found it in multiple states!)

Although this current fellow is not exactly my significant other, our first date was one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I like to keep it pretty simple to minimize the pressure. We met up for a few drinks, which were really tasty and put us in a great mood (my drink was actually called Absolut Relaxin'). We had great conversation and laughed for most of the night. After drinks we went for a walk and he bought me some chocolate, which is always winner for me because I absolutely LOVE chocolate. I still smile every time I think about it.
My recent post Bloggers Unite!
I shared my first date on my blog a while back. We met at a restaurant (Smokey Bones BBQ). I was an hour late. When I arrived, the waiter teased me cause my now husband had been waiting for so long. I was so nervous (for the life of me I don't know why) and I barely ate anything. We had great conversation and he made me laugh. Dinner was supposed to be it, but we didn't want to leave. It just so happened that there was a movie theatre within walking distance from the restaurant. We laughed all the way to the theatre and saw Talladega Nights. He kissed me on my forehead while we were in the theatre. The date was was so much fun, I couldn't wait to see him again.
